The World of Moon Mask is an ambitious creative project aimed at moving beyond traditional forms of storytelling to embrace a 21st Century multimedia literary experience.

From serialised novels to character-driven blogs, in-universe social media, choose-your-own adventure stories, Tap tales, and escape-room styled narrative games, I am bringing the experience of personal expeditions to six out of seven continents, almost a decade of museum work, and a degree in archaeology, to create a shared universe of interactive adventure fiction.

Central to the project lies the Moon Mask Saga, a high-octane, edge of your seat serialised novel depicting the adventures of Doctor Benjamin King, an archaeologist forced to rely on the enigmatic and dangerous Nathan Raine to unravel an ancient mystery and save humanity from a terrible fate.

Embracing the fashion of on-demand serialised storytelling perfected by TV streaming giants, the Moon Mask Saga leaps from the traditional confines of a novel. It is an episodic narrative told over several seasons, perfecting the art of the cliffhanger made popular by shows such as 24 and Lost to Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.

Inspired by trends seen in other media, from blockbuster movies to popular comic books and even best-selling computer games, the World of Moon Mask embraces several multifaceted and multimedia narrative approaches-

  • Follow King’s blog and social media to unravel his tragic backstory, gain insights into his work and witness his thrilling journey into the heart of the Venezuelan jungle, the launch point for the Moon Mask saga.
  • Help Raine and King crack codes, solve riddles and defeat the bad guys in escape room style, narrative-driven games, some linking into episodes, others expanding the larger universe’s story.
  • Take charge of the action in limited-time-only, social media-based ‘choose your own’ adventures, or explore the saga through a different lens in specially crafted Tap and Wattpad tales.
  • Watch the World of Moon Mask evolve through unique mini-adventures and engaging limited series into an interconnected, shared universe of stories, characters, and genres.
  • Look out for new and innovative additions to the World of Moon Mask via other mediums through crossovers with fellow writers and collaboration with artists and other creatives in the future, from comics to digital art, podcasts to animation.
